From Split Airport to Split Ferry Terminal
Split Airport is a relatively small airport with just one runway. And yet, in 2025, for example, it handled almost 4 million passengers! During the peak season, things here are usually a bit busier.
The two most common transfer options are a shuttle bus or a taxi.
Please note that the journey time from the airport to Split Ferry Terminal is at least 35 minutes. The journey is approximately 25 km long. During the high season, this can take an hour or even a little longer due to traffic jams. So please make sure you allow plenty of time to catch your connection to the ferry or speedboat.
It is definitely worth buying tickets for the ferry or speedboat 30 days in advance during the peak season.

If you need a hire car for your holiday on the island of Vis, it might be worth hiring a car in Split, depending on the length of your stay. The choice there is much wider and often more attractive. However, you’ll need to factor in the cost of the ferry tickets as well.

Shuttle bus
Since spring 2026, the official shuttle bus has been operated by the company ‘Platanus’. This bus stops in Split right next to the ferry terminal. The journey costs €9 and the ticket is valid for the day of travel. Tickets can be purchased on the bus or online. Buses are scheduled to depart from the airport 30 minutes after every landing. However, during the peak season, so many flights arrive that the shuttle runs more or less continuously.
Please note that there is a timetable for the return journey from Split to the airport.

Taxis
Taxi fares in Croatia are not regulated by law! There have been isolated reports of drivers shamelessly exploiting this lack of regulation. You should therefore exercise caution when hailing a taxi on the spot. Always agree on the fare with the driver before getting in. Fixed fares apply, particularly for standard routes such as the airport to the ferry terminal.
A journey to the ferry terminal usually costs around 50 euros.
You can either clarify this directly with one of the many taxis in Split before setting off, or book a taxi in advance online with one of the many providers.
