Where can I buy groceries?

On the island of Vis we even have 2 larger grocery stores since June 2025. These are the brands “Tommy” and “Plodine”. In the town of Vis and Komiža there are of course several small branches of various grocery stores. In this article, however, I will mention the 2 largest on the island. Measured from our accommodation, “Tommy” can be reached in about 30 minutes (via a shortcut on foot). The distance is approx. 2500 meters.

“Plodine” offers the larger selection. However, the store is approx. 5 minutes or 400 meters further away than Tommy.

If you go by car, the distance for both stores is about 4 kilometers and both can be reached in about 8 minutes driving time.

Both stores offer freshly baked goods and ready-made meals. Both have a large selection of cheeses and a butcher’s shop.

During peak season, both grocery stores operate 7 days a week. Both open at 07:00 a.m.
It’s worth getting there early because the crowds are much smaller.
In the evening, “Tommy” closes at 21:00 in the high season, while you can shop at “Plodine” until 22:00.
